The first post

Well, for this first post… Why did I set up this blog? I was always hesitant opening a blog, I never thought that anyone could be interested to read what especially *me* would write. But now I think it might be of use for some of you – following my process of trying to establish a business in the world of fabrics and fibres – with occasional bits and pieces from knitting and other crafts. Kind of a notebook, if you want.

My goal is to find an unique way to earn my living which fits to me as a person. Which doesn’t merely focus on money and how to earn more and more and even MORE of it. Of course money and sales are an essential part of a business, but after working for over 15 years in the “big industry” I crave for more. For an activity which can contribute a little more to this world and which has a sense beyond just profit. A sense for me, that I’m doing something useful – and a sense for others to bring them joy, help, advice etc. To live a life which can uphold values like trust, reliability, fairness and authenticity.

And this craving boils inside me for a few years now and became so strong now that I need to take action or I’ll burst. But as you all know, not only the heart leads our thoughts but also the mind. Reason it’s called, I think. ;) …”What if I won’t be able to keep this up? What if I won’t earn enough money? What if no one will like what I do?” and similar worries.

Believe me, I’ve gone through the “should I – should I not?”-process numerous times. But now I’m at the point where I just need to try. And I hope, following me on my way will help you too. We’ll see where this will lead to.

“All courses of action are risky, so prudence is not in avoiding danger, but calculating risk and acting decisively. Make mistakes of ambition and not mistakes of sloth. Develop the strength to do bold things, not the strength to suffer.”
—Niccolò Machiavelli

So – welcome to my blog! :)

P.S: Oh, and as English is not my native language (I’m from Munich – so to say: a bavarian native), please excuse occasional weird expressions. Why am I not writing in German? Well… I want as many people to be able to read my blog and English is more common in the world than German. :) So if anyone needs a translation to German for some parts, feel free to contact me. I’m happy to translate, but I won’t provide all the content bilingual. It just takes too much time.

Feedback welcome
